Lela D Hussey
Born June 30, 1933 in Island City, Missouri to Bill & Mae Simpson. She grew up in the Flag Springs Community & graduated Union Star Missouri High School. She lived a short time in California, then in Dayton Ohio while married to Dale Bealle, divorced and married again moving to Illinois to raise three children with Jim Kammer. She later married Jim Hussey moving to Dellwood Wisconsin to be co-owner of the Dellwood Grocery Store. Once again divorced & worked in several places in Adams County including the Dellwood Pavillion & the Dellwood Minimart & Post Office.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters & brothers-in-law, Ethel(Art) Falk, Wilma(Bill) Gordon, Loarine(Leroy) Bashor as well as significant others Ken Hovorka & Bob Holman.
She is survived by her children, Woody Kammer of Antigo WI, Kathy(Allen) Broyles of Oswego IL, & Jim(Nora) Kammer of Yorkville IL, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, her Brother Bill(Mariann) Simpson of Savannah MO, sister Judy Tifrea of Union Star MO, & many well loved Nieces, Nephews, and Greats thereof.
She was an avid fisherman, mushroom hunter, bird watcher, loved crafts, cooking, bowling, shooting pool & throwing darts. She liked to gamble when she could & would toast you with a drink to your health and hers.
Lela worked hard, played hard, laughed often & loved her family and friends. We will miss her “tell it like it is” attitude & her outlook on life.
There will be no services per her request. She would tell us all “God go with you and don’t go any faster than your guardian angel can fly.”
I will always remember Lela for her outspoken comments. She was tough and stubborn but also sweet. She did love to play bingo and participate in crafts. RIP Lela.
I was just telling one of her jokes she told me when I worked with her at the Citgo in friendship. I will miss her. Sorry for your loss.
So sorry to hear of Lela’s passing. My thoughts and prayers. Always enjoyed her spunkiness when she would come into the clinic.
My heart grieves with you, but I know all who were there to greet her! Jimbo, Woody and Kathy love and prayers to you and yours!
I can remember when I was little every time I saw Aunt Lela she always had a mischievous twinkle in her eye… she was a strong and independent woman.
I’m so sorry for your loss, Kathy, Woody and Jimbo. Your mom was certain one of a kind! The spark in her eyes has left but her spirit is still with you. Love never dies, only the body does. Wishing your mom’s love and your love for her helps you heal your sorrow and grief. Much, much love and hugs my friends.
