Thomas Clyde Giles

Thomas Clyde Giles Age 83, of Friendship, WI. went to be with our Lord on February 1, 2022, surrounded by his family at his home.

Formerly of Burnwell and Kingston, WV. Thomas was born to the late William and Mary (Manning) Giles in Burnwell, WV on June 3rd, 1938. He came from a big family with four brothers and four sisters whom he loved dearly. He graduated from East Bank and Kingston WV High Schools due to moving but, He earned two High School diplomas. He attended some College later as well, he could type 60 words per minute. He was an incredibly smart man, the kindest most loving and good-hearted person you could meet.

He met the love of his life Gloria O’Dell, and they were married on November 9th, 1962, Their Marriage was blessed with four children, two boys and two girls. Kenneth, Theresa, Lisa, and Dennis. In pursuit of the American dream they moved to Fort Walton Beach, FL. then Chicago, IL.

Thomas worked for Paymaster Corporation in Chicago, IL. For over 31 years as Supervisor in Charge of Production and Control. He worked two jobs for many years working as a bookkeeper at Dartnell Corp. in Chgo, Il. When he was not attending night classes at a local College, He loved learning and he loved working with numbers, He helped so many family members and friends being their Accountant and doing their Taxes, He helped them with bookkeeping, Financing advice and some investments and loans. He was always willing to help whoever needed it. He was a very hard-working man who valued being an honest and caring person. He had a great sense of humor and liked to tell a good joke and loved making others laugh, He retired from Paymaster and moved into his home in Friendship, Wi. He was a God-fearing man, He was a wonderful loving husband, Father (Daddy), Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Brother and Uncle.

He loved spending time with his family, He loved taking them camping and traveling to visit family, he would teach them the road signs while on a trip, He taught his children how to play pool on the family pool table and he taught them to play cards, He always helped with homework, He taught them about so many things in the world. He always encouraged all his children and grandchildren to finish school and never stop learning, He loved his family and always kept each one in his prayers, His love was pure and unconditional, He had a hard life but, you wouldn’t hear him complain. He could play the guitar and sing like any artist, He had a beautiful voice, He will be forever loved and missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents – William & Mary (Manning) Giles, brothers: David, Richard and Roger Giles, sisters: Shirley (Giles) Aliff, Sharon (Giles) Pittman, mother & father-in-law: Clifford & Polly (Foster) O’Dell, brothers-in-law: Barry O’Dell, Charles Ramsburg, Junior Holley, sisters-in-law: Diana (O’Dell) Redlin, Connie (O’Dell) Allard, son-in-law: Larry King, and grandson: Christopher King.

Those left to cherish his loving memory are his beloved wife Gloria of almost sixty years, four children- sons; Kenneth, Dennis Giles, daughters; Theresa (Giles) Fox (Steve), Lisa (Giles) Gregory (Chuck), brother; Butch Giles, sisters; Loretta (Giles) Ramsburg, Carol Sue (Giles) Holley, grandchildren: (17) Candace, Christina, Cynthia, Crystal, Keith, Kevin, Destiny, Thomas, Laura, Shannon, Jonathon, Richard, Christine, Sarah, Charles, Curtis, Chad, great-grandchildren: (33) plus another due this year. Also, many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for all of their care.
