They married on September 24,1955. Carl was serving in the Navy at the time, stationed in San Diego, CA. While in San Diego they welcomed two children Mark and Sandra. In June
of 1958, they moved back to IL. In 1961 their first home was built in Lemont, IL. That same year their son Carl Jr. was born. Mary Lou and Carl were one of five original families in the Westbury subdivision, now called Bolingbrook. In 1987 they moved to the Lakewood subdivision of Strongs Prairie, WI. Mom and Dad enjoyed fishing at Castlerock Lake and Leech Lake in Walker, MN. Mary Lou had a variety of jobs over the years once her youngest started school. Her last job was at Ocean Spray. Mom went to a ceramics class in the '80's and enjoyed it so much she started "Ceramics by Lou" in IL and Adams, WI. Mary Lou had an easy-going nature, sense of humor and a wonderful smile that we will all miss. Mary Lou was "Grandma" to five grandchildren whom she loved. Four great grandchildren whom she never met.

She and her cousins stayed connected over the years. This November her cousin and family from Texas visited her. Mary Lou kept ties with childhood friends and people she has known through the years.
