Sadly, Mary Louise “Weezie” Wallner, age 97, of Friendship, Wisconsin passed away at her home early Sunday morning on June 9, 2024.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. A celebration of life at the VFW in Adams will follow.

Mary was born July 17, 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Mathew and Stephanie “Fannie” (Kravanya) Komatz. Mary was the first of seven children to be born in a hospital along with her baby brother Eddie. She attended West Milwaukee High School where she graduated in 1944. She enjoyed playing basketball and other sports while in high school.

Weezie married Marvin Robert Wallner on September 20, 1947, in West Allis, WI. She and Marvin were engaged before Marvin enlisted in the U.S. Navy on 12/09/1944 and was discharged on 08/19/1946. Marvin preceded Mary in death and passed away on October 13, 2016.

While in high school, Mary got her first job at 16-17 years of age at Johnston Confectionery and Cracker company in Milwaukee (Silver City) and was paid in cash plus four Silver Dollars. After she was married and her youngest son was in school, she worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee for 19 years, retired in 1984, and moved to Adams County in 1985.

Mary enjoyed golf, skiing, baking, traveling, reading, feeding and watching the birds in her backyard, walking/hiking, and especially spending time with her family. She was a member of the Roche-A-Cri Recreation Ladies League, Couples League at Moundview Golf Course, and Woodland Lutheran Church in Nekoosa, WI. She became a believer as an adult and raised her family in the Lutheran church.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Marvin; parents: Mathew & Fannie; brothers Ernie, Matt & Joey, and sisters Rosie, & Annie.

Survivors include her sons Daniel (Tara) Wallner, Randy Wallner, Richard Wallner (Terri), & Michael (Toni) Wallner; grandchildren Brandon Wallner (Becky), Raeann (Bryan) Volk, Jason Wallner, Jessica Wallner, Cortney (Dan) Sunderlage, Megan (Scott) Fritton, Nicole (Joel) Gilbert, and brother Edward (Sue) Komatz. Mary is further survived by her great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, & friends.

    I’m so sorry to hear about Mary. I talked to her only a couple times on the phone when she would call to order books from the library for Randy to pick up, but I could tell she was a very sweet lady. She will be missed.
