Linda J. Chapman

Linda J. Chapman, age 77, of Grand Marsh, formerly of Madison, Wisconsin and St. Louis, MO, passed away following stage IV breast cancer on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship, Wisconsin.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Linda was born May 17, 1947, in Madison, Wisconsin to R. Keith and Betty (Cale) Chapman. She graduated from Madison West High School and UW Madison.

Linda worked for a St. Louis insurance company, the United States Postal Service, a clipping bureau, and a nuclear power plant while it was being built. Her most important job of all was being a caretaker for her parents and late husband Dean.

Linda was a very crafty person and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making jewelry, beaded necklaces, and fancy hair pieces, taking master gardener classes, the wildlife around her house and feeding & watching the birds. She would always love playing a good game of bingo, and especially loved taking care of her two cats.

Linda was a longtime member of the Sports Car Club of America, Mid-West Division as a starter, corner worker, and in timing & scoring.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents: R. Keith & Betty, and her husband of 32 years: Dean Johnson.

Survivors include her brother: Wayne (Vicki); sister: Susan Murray; Dean’s 102 year old aunt Betty Neiswender; niece: Megan (Matt), nephew: Chris (Tosha); great-nephews: Nate & William; sister-in-law: Sherry (Bruce); nieces-in-law & nephews-in-law: Kyle (Divya), Brett (Emmie), Kina (Luke), and Todd (Emily); great-nieces-in-law & nephews-in-law: Shiv, Dhruv, Naina, Jensen, and Anders, and many friends.

    Linda was such a great lady, I enjoyed her visits to my insurance office. One of my favorite clients for sure. Always a smile on her face no matter what she was going through. Linda and her sister Susan Murray were 2 peas in a pod for sure. My heart goes out to the family. God Bless
