Joan A. Stebbins, 80, of Hancock, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Born on June 23, 1944, in Mauston, Wisconsin, to Willard and Daphene (Runnels) Johnson, Joan lived a life filled with love, family, and adventure.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Joan graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1963 and went on to marry the love of her life, Gary W. Stebbins, on June 20, 1987, at their home in Hancock. She took pride in her career, beginning as the first nurse’s aide at Villa Pines in Friendship, before joining Nekoosa Papers, now Domtar, where she worked until her retirement in 2004.
Joan’s passions were deeply rooted in nature. She found joy in flower gardening, feeding &
watching birds, camping, and taking motorcycle rides and walks with Gary. Above all, Joan cherished the time spent with her beloved family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Daphene; her in-laws, Earl and Anne
Stebbins; and her brother-in-law, John Stebbins.
Joan is survived by her devoted husband, Gary, her children Dean (Samantha) Applebee, Dana (Fred) Hodgkins, Jeremiah (Cori) Stebbins, and Jason (Shaleina) Stebbins; her brothers-in-law Neil and Eric Stebbins; her sisters-in-law Gwendolyn Krueger and Maxine Stebbins; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry her memory in their hearts. We love you and you’ll be missed dearly.
