A memorial service with military honors will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin, with Rev. John K. Stake officiating. Family and friends are invited to visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Paul was born on February 6, 1950, in Caledonia, Racine County, Wisconsin, to George and Elizabeth (Kah) Funk. He attended Caledonia Grade School and graduated from Case High School in
Racine. Answering the call to serve his country, Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force on May 8, 1969, and proudly served until his honorable discharge on April 13, 1977. On November 27, 1971, Paul married the love of his life, Karen S. Fliess, at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Racine, Wisconsin. Together, they built a beautiful life during his military assignments, including time stationed at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in Michigan and later at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin.
Paul’s greatest joys were rooted in his family and the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, golf, and cheering on his beloved Packers and
Brewers. Above all, his grandsons were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. A dedicated community member, Paul was a proud member of the Elks Club in Marquette, Michigan, and the American Legion in Caledonia.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth Funk; his sister, Joyce Funk; his brother, Kenny Funk; his nephew, Jonathan Gross; his father-in-law, Clarence Fliess; his mother-in-law, Diane Hoffmann; and brothers-in-law, Troy Fliess, Clarence “Gus” Fliess, Jay Fliess, Scott Harms, and Geno Donaldson.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 53 years, Karen; his son, Shawn Funk; his daughter, Brandy (Rick) Burns; his cherished grandsons, Austin Funk and Tyler Burns; his brother, Phillip “Skip” (Lou) Funk; his sister, Georgeann (Bob) Gross; his brother-in-law, Bob Fliess; and his sisters-in-law, Debbie “Deb” Harms, Denise Donaldson, Maria, and Lucy. Paul is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.
The family is being assisted by Roseberry’s Funeral Home. Online condolences and further information can be found at www.roseberrys.com.

I am so sorry to hear about Paul’s passing. I remember fondly of our dinners out, our card playing at each others houses, as the years together progressed from Paul being one of Dan’s first supervisors in the Air Force to me working with Paul at Snow Control at KI Sawyer and then transferred to Fort McCoy close to when we did. He will be missed.
