Bernadine “Bernie” Berry
Interment will take place at a later date at the Lithuanian National Cemetery in Justice, Illinois.
Bernadine was born on November 4, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to Edward and Joann (Obecunas) Bending. At the age of 40, Bernie was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, yet she continued to work at Western Electric (AT&T) until her retirement. She then made her home in Wisconsin Dells, where she was happiest. Despite the challenges of her illness, Bernie was known for always asking about others first. She had a bubbly personality, a caring heart, and a wonderful sense of humor.
Bernie found joy in her farm, caring for her animals, and spending time with her beloved cats and dogs. She was a devoted member of Davis Corners United Methodist Church and actively participated in the ladies’ group.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael; parents, Edward and Joann; sister, Marian (Daniel); nephew, Michael; and brother-in-law, William.
Bernie is survived by her loving partner of 47 years, Virgil; sister, Ruth; longtime friend and caregiver, Dani; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful dog, Sassy.

Bernie was my aunt and she has been a part of my life since I was born. My heart is just broken. When she baby sat me , she let me put on her wedding dress and it was fun and she got such a kick out it. She had the cutest dogs always. I have a lifetime of memories with her. She was always thoughtful of me and happy for my achievements. I will miss calling her and telling her what is going on and checking in on her. Our visits to the Dells to see her will remain in my heart forever. Rest in peace my auntie. My deepest sympathy to Virgil and all who loved her. She will be missed.
Bernie was one of a kind! She had a beautiful smile and a kind heart. This Sunday we will be celebrating Bernie during our fellowship time after Church enjoying some of her favorite foods and sharing stories and prayers!
