Mary E. Marti
Mary was born in Baldwin, WI on November 12, 1942, to Lawrence and Frances Mae (Seiler) O’Donnell. While working as a waitress in northern WI, she met the love of her life Dale Marti and
on October 31, 1964, they married and started their family. While raising their four daughters, Mary worked with her husband at Marti’s Garage and became a licensed car dealer. After her husband’s death in 1993, she became an Environmental Services Supervisor for Ho-Chunk Casino a position in which she held with pride until she retired in 2015 with 23 years of services.
She was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star and Amaranth which promotes charity, duty, faith, and wisdom. Mary had a passion for sewing, traveling with her special friend Don Lutz, sitting on her deck with a cup of coffee, watching her birds, the wildlife and natures beauty but especially in the fall, her favorite time of year. She loved her family, everyone getting together and would proudly talk about her grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. Mary had a spicy, bold personality and was always willing to speak her mind! She made life interesting and will be greatly missed and will forever be in our hearts.
Mary is survived by her four daughters: Rebecca (Becky) Marti, Gayle (Cory) Schehr, Marie (Bobby) Holbrooks, Nanette Roth (Adam Vester). Grandchildren; Blaine Waller, Craig Schehr, Courtney Schehr, Alexander Holbrooks and Brandon Roth. Sister; Nancy Smith along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to extend our gratitude to the Moments Hospice team and Our House Senior Living who went above and beyond to provide support, comfort and guidance through this journey.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at Mount Repose Cemetery, Friendship, WI. There will be a Celebration of Life to follow at Rustic Ridge 2230 Town Rd., Friendship WI from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Please join the family and share your favorite memories. Please direct any floral arrangements to the Rustic Ridge.

Our thoughts are with Mary’s family on this difficult day. It is never easy losing a parent. Yet, as I sit on my porch watching the birds here in Florida, I’m reminded of laughs shared and stories told. It was a pleasure getting to know her and the kindness she shared with us (that you all did). Today, we mourn her passing but continue to celebrate her life & getting to know a Grand ol Dame.

My deepest sympathy with the passing of your mom. I have such fond memories from our past days. In fact, I thought about her and your dad the other day. I thought of a play that we did at the Old High School. It was a comedy and it was a farm scene. Georgene Kirchner did the scenery. I cannot remember why we were all in it, but we must have been raising money for something. I can still see your mom walking down that isle and up on that stage. I never met her but if she was anything like you..just a beautiful person inside and out! It said she had a spicy, bold personality and I can see you that way but I don’t see you always speaking your mind. (With your eyes YES, as they don’t lie!! ) 😉 Or with someone you felt comfortable enough with & maybe a sigh under your breath!! 🥰 But a very caring and loving person!! I’m sorry you have to be hurting and I’m sending lots of love, hugs & prayers! 🙏♥️✝️🥰😇 I know I shared with you that you were unforgettable, at Roche-a-Cri school when we were Kg-8th grade. I’m just a tad younger than you! 😉
I’m not sure if I ever told you this story but I never knew you had so many sisters but this is when my daughters were really young and I was checking out in at Walmart in The Dells and your sisters and I believe your Mom were having family pictures taken and I think it was your voice that I recognized first! 😉😂 I have a voice no one forgets either! But it’s like a moment in time I remember and I was gonna come and say hello but you would have been like who are you?! 😁 I remember your sisters(at least one of them was so worried about her hair!)Mind you.. I’m seeing all this from waiting in line for checkout. It’s not everyday that u remember a family getting pictures done! 😉😂 Now..that I think of it I don’t ever remember anyone else ever. ♥️ But that was because ya’ll have such loving personalities(maybe taking after ya’lls Mom a bit and feisty but it was quite hilarious!) 😆 It just reminded me of what would be my family someday trying to get everyone on one page to take pictures!! 😉😂 I’m sure they are a very special treasure. As, it was probably in the fall of 1996-1997?! I think ya’ll were getting Christmas pictures maybe?! Funny the things we can remember. And to someone else it doesn’t mean anything but in that memory you could see ya’ll loved each other!! Ya’ll probably don’t even remember that time but I’m sure ya’ll have so many good memories of each other together and keep them close…until ya’ll are reunited again!! ♥️😇♥️
