Gwenda J. Chambers, age 76, of Hancock, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards, Wisconsin.

Gwenda was born on September 23, 1949, in Coos Bay, Oregon, to Albert and Betty Jean (Clark) Walters. She was united in marriage to Frederick G. Chambers on November 20, 1965, in McHenry, Illinois. Together they were blessed with four children.

Gwenda devoted her life to her family, her friends, and her faith. She was a homemaker for most of her life, lovingly caring for her family and creating a home filled with warmth. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with her beloved fur babies, Scooter and Ginger, and playing cards. Spades and Rummy with her grandchildren were favorite pastimes, and in later years she delighted in playing UNO with her great-grandchildren. Her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren were truly her shining light.

She was preceded in death by her son, Alex B. Chambers; grandson, Zachariah McDougal; her parents, Albert A. Walters, Betty Jean Clark, and Walter Clark; sisters-in-law Linda Walters, and Jo Chambers, and other close family members and friends.

Gwenda is survived by her children, Gail (Josh) Hentges, Claude Chambers, and Misty Chambers; her brothers, Albert Allen Walters and Terry (Susan) Walters; nine grandchildren, Shawn Sanford, Kari (Jason) Elkington, Amanda (Tyler) Zindars, Clinton Chambers, Colton Chambers, Harley Chambers, Alex Chambers, Destiny Chambers, Angeline (Dakota) Chambers, and Jacob (Faith) Hentges ; eight great-grandchildren, Mason (Breanna) Elkington, Ace Elkington, Timothy Zindars, Abigail Zindars, Trey Elkington, Gracie Zindars, Willow Adkins, and Beckham Hentges. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home for the compassionate care and kindness shown to their mother and grandmother loving her as they do.

Due to Gwenda’s celebration of life being planned for a later date, memorials may be mailed to Gail Hentges, 777 Beaver Ave., Hancock, WI 54943.
