Jonathan was born on November 24, 1976, in Illinois to Daniel and Donna (Gilbert) Pope. He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1996.
Jonathan enjoyed playing cards with his uncle and neighbors, photographing railroad cars, collecting Matchbox cars, and watching television.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father, Daniel Pope.
Survivors include his mother, Donna; his brother, Brian; and his uncle, Don.

So sorry for your loss. I knew him. He always came into Family Dollar and bought hot Wheels. We wld have our conversations of which ones we both liked the most and why. He was a nice guy RIP..

John and I went to school together and I will miss seeing his face at the adams county fair and John if you can hear me thanks for being my friend
So sorry to hear of an early death in life. He was so polite, great smile, very calm, and we had a connection with sports as I always looked forward to sit next to him in the bleachers. My honor to have learned from John as a teacher at AFHS for several years. Pretty easy to shed some tears when I heard this. Hope his end of life was fulfilling and pain-free.

Blessing & Prayers to Family & Friends for the loss of Jon.
I had the honor to befriend Jon on our road of 8th Ave were he so often walked.
Jon was very special person with a
Beautiful smile and greeting every time I encounter him.
I was honored to pray with him and his mom and neighbors weeks prior to his passing.
June 14 2026 I awoke with a heavy burden on my heart to attend Church that morning.
I pray the instructions presented to him of Jesus love for him and of our Lords salvation for his life assisted him in his last hours.
Jon will be truly missed.

Because of where our last names fell in the alphabet, Jon and I went through school in the same homeroom and block of lockers. He always greeted me with a genuine smile. Jon was a naturally positive person with a kind and gentle soul. I’m so sorry to hear of his passing.
It’s hard not having Jon around.
We became Jon’s neighbor on 8th Ave and his friend which later felt like a brother relationship.
The joy of simply having him around when being outside. He rode with us many times to visit our family members. Jon had given us a gift of his time. So sorry for you Donna and Don.
