Loretta Chaffee passed away November 15, 2010 in the Hospice Palliative Care Unit at St Josephs Hospital in Marshfield Wisconsin
Memorial service will be 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 4th, 2010. Pastor Terri Skildum will officiate. Friends may call at Roseberrys Funeral Home on Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m.
Interment will follow at a later date at the St. Leo Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin.
Loretta was born July 25, 1933 in Adams, Wisconsin to Donald J Fogarty and Helen (Fait) Fogarty. She attended Friendship Grade School and Adams-Friendship High School.
On July 22, 1949 she eloped with Rudolph D. Chaffee to Dubuque, Iowa and was married on that date. They celebrated their marriage vows again later that year in a Catholic ceremony September 10, 1949 in Necedah, Wisconsin
Rudy and Loretta raised a family in Arkdale where they operated a farm. Loretta enjoyed the rural life and all her many friends and farm neighbors. Rudy and Loretta also enjoyed the social events that were frequently held in Dellwood, Wisconsin.
Memorials (in lieu of flowers) should be directed to the Palliative Care Unit at St Josephs Hospital, Marshfield.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents: Donald Fogarty and Helen Fogarty; husband, Rudolph D Chaffee; sons: Roger Chaffee; Keith Chaffee; infant son, Darwin Chaffee; son-in-law, Donald Alderman; and Great-Grandson, Mytchell Alderman.

Daughter: Judith Alderman of Dellwood, Wisconsin
Son: Dennis Chaffee of West Allis, Wisconsin
Daughter: Sarah (Ray) Dambeck of Iron River, Michigan
Daughter-in-law: Diane (Roger) Chaffee of Marshfield, Wisconsin
Former daughter-in-law: Leila Chaffee of Cincinnati, Ohio
Former daughter-in-law: Barbara Churchill of Arkdale, Wisconsin
Former daughter-in-law: Karen Chaffee of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin
Grandchildren: 18

I really enjoyed getting to know Loretta as her instructor in water exercise class at the YMCA. She was a delightful lady. My sympathy to the family.
Judy, Dennis, Sarah and all of Rogers Children and Families, I have so many fond memories of your mom and Grandmother (and dad and Grandfather), who now can hold each other in their arms again. Sarah, Dennis and Judy, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. She was always so much fun. I think back to the days when we went to each others homes as children. I know this loss will hurt forever but eventually the good times will be remembered, and that is what she leaves behind.

I first met Loretta when we looked at their house on Cumberland Ave, As then as i do now thought she was a very nice Lady along with Rudy also ….Always was glad to see her especially at the rec days held in arkdale……I know she was a special lady and will be missed very much …My thoughts and prayers are with you Judy Dennis .and Sarah….Hold each other close ….

I too can recall the social events in Dellwood. Rudy and Loretta, the Wallers, the Tarvids, the Marti family, the Smedbrons, and other friends and neighbors all raising their families and enjoying life together. Very good times indeed.
