David Kenneth Gulrud

David Kenneth Gulrud, age 50, passed away peacefully with family members at his side on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the St. Clare Hospice House in Baraboo, WI following a short battle with cancer.  

He was born on November 27, 1959 in Friendship, WI to Herbert Gulrud Jr. and June (Reichhoff) Gulrud. David graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1978 and worked for Boldt Construction and Georgia Pacific Papermill as a Master Millwright.  In 1998 he became a Blackjack dealer at Ho-Chunk Casino in Baraboo.

David had three children from a previous marriage;  Bryan, Joshua and Megan.  In 1999 David married Donna (Sandmire) Young and resided in the Baraboo area until his death.

David was an avid sportsman, woodworker, handyman, and enjoyed making Halloween costumes and crafts.  David especially loved cooking, reading, chocolate, coffee, the Packers, and his dog Rusty.

David is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Donna; his step-children, Courtney (Greg) Dahlke of Reedsburg, WI and Clint (Katie) Kelly of Belleville, WI;  sons Bryan (Cindy) Gulrud of Stevens Point, WI, and Joshua Gulrud of Milwaukee, WI;  daughter Megan (Jeff) Tetzloff of Stevens Point, WI; and grand-daughter Maia Tetzloff of Stevens Point, WI.  

Also survived by his mother, June Gulrud, of Adams, WI;  brother, Mark (Terri) Gulrud, of Adams, WI; sisters: Myrna (Tim) Diemert of Friendship, WI and Janet (Ron) Brown of Middleton, WI; father-in-law, Al (Norlinda) Kovars of Poynette, WI; sisters-in-law: Laurie (Cande) Hernandez of Waterloo, WI; Darlene (Rob) Weisensel of Woodruff, WI; Terri (Randy) McAliley of Fall River, WI; Tonya Kovars of Lodi, WI; brothers-in-law: Dale (Tiffany) Sandmire of Sauk, WI and David (Beth) Sandmire of Waterloo, WI. David is further survived by many nieces and nephews, in-laws, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Gulrud Jr., maternal and paternal grandparents, his God-parents, Irma and Harvey Bandow; brother-in-law Shawn Kovars and infant brother, Robert.

A memorial gathering and luncheon is planned for Sunday, November 28th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Adams Town Hall located at 1980 11th Avenue, Friendship, WI. Jeff Bandow will offer words of prayer prior to the meal. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.
