Lane, Jake, Aileen and family – Jim and I send our deepest condolences. You are in our thoughts and prayers, and we love you very much.
I will always remember the kindness that Gloria and Bob extended to my family in 1978 when my home was destroyed in a fire and we lost all we owned. They were the first to respond with all the neccesities I needed to make myself ready for work and then some. A toothbrush never looked so good. I have always remembered their kindness.
My life has changed as I have not lived in Monroe Center for many years and I am no longer an Ostrum, since divorced, but I have many good memories of my time spent there. (and that little store!) Bob was one of my dearest friends. We served together on Coral Sea and again at lakehurst AB School. He had a dry wit that made him very popular and a n atural engineering talent that was always helpful. We worked in a most hazardous environment , the flight deck of an aircraft carrier. Bob was adept at handling the arresting gear equipment that stopped the aircraft landing at 160 mile an houir in a short 300 feet. though he is gone , he will be in my thoughts for a long time
