Gwendolyn Esther Herriot

Gwendolyn Esther Herriot, age 83, of Friendship, Wisconsin died early morning on Friday, May 18, 2007 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

Graveside Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at the Easton Cemetery, Town of Easton, Adams County, Wisconsin. A memorial service will be held at a later date.  

Gwen was born June 8, 1923 in Adams, Wisconsin to Floyd and Anna (Gonzagowski) Steffen. She graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1940. Gwen married Robert Bruce Herriot Sr. on June 20, 1942 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Adams, Wisconsin. They made their home in Easton Township, where they raised 13 children. Gwen and Robert moved Dec. 10, 1977 to their present home in the Village of Friendship.

Gwen was a baker, a collector of cook books and antiques. She enjoyed painting, embroidery, pinochle, and bridge. As an accomplished soprano soloist, she loved the opera and musicals and attended many. Bob and Gwen were avid travelers and visited numerous family and friends across the U.S. and abroad. 

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren: Mandy and Casey; and son-in-law, Jim.
