Mary Rose Grignano

Mary Rose Grignano, age 94, of Friendship, Wisconsin died Thursday, August 2, 2007 at the Moundview Memorial Extended Care in Friendship, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 06, 2007 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Friendship, Wisconsin. Father James P. McNamee will officiate. Interment will be at the St. Leos Catholic Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home. A Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Mary was born February 17, 1913 in Madison, Wisconsin to Anthony and Antonia (Monino) Bonanno. She grew up in Madison with her family. Mary married Jacob "Jack" Grignano on June 4, 1931 in Madison, Wisconsin. The couple moved to Friendship, WI in the early 1930s. They farmed in Richfield Township, and Mary worked during WWII and the Korean Conflict at Badger Ordnance. Later she waitressed and managed various restaurants and in 1956 bought the old Friendship Café and built the new Friendship Café in 1960, which she owned for 16 years.

Mary retired and pursued her dream of painting.

Mary enjoyed painting, crafts, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Mary was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, Friendship Homemakers, and the Royal Neighbors.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Ann Pelstring; and brother, Sam BonAnno.
