Gerallyn Joyce Gates

Gerallyn Joyce Gates, age 79, of Adams, Wisconsin died Monday, March 22, 2010 at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 26, 2010 at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Brooks, Wisconsin. Father James P. McNamee will officiate. Interment will be at the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Town of New Chester, Adams County, Wisconsin.

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

Geri was born November 12, 1930 in La Salle, Illinois to Victor and Lucille (Haley) Johnson. She married George C. Gates on October 7, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. This marriage was blessed with six children.

Geri enjoyed camping, having seen all 48 lower states. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed living in the country, and in her younger days, dancing with her husband, George.

Geri was a faithful member of St. Anns Catholic Church.

Geri was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Lucille Johnson; husband, George C. Gates; son, George V. Gates; brother, Victor Johnson; sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson, Brother-in-law, Glenn C. Gates; nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.

Surviving family members include her Children: Carol (Tom) Schimel of Elmhurst, IL; Mary (Craig) Wille of Adams, Wisconsin; Peggy Queen of Mundelien, IL; Gary (Meg) Gates of Claredon Hills, IL; Tom Gates of Third Lake, IL; Daughter-in-law, Karen Gates of Morton Grove, IL; Grandchildren: Tom (Katie) Schimel Jr., Bill Schimel, Amanda Schimel,
Vickie Gates, Stephanie Gates, George Gates Jr., Tom Queen Jr., Katie Queen, Christopher Gates, Emily Gates, Molly Gates, Michael Gates; Great-Grandchild, Melody Gates; Sister-in-law, Maxine Max Gates; further survived by other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank Northland Home Health, Moundview Memorial Hospital Physical Therapy, Dr. Stuart Taylor, Wendy and Becky for the excellent care they provided mother during her time of need.
