I was Zach’s first grade teacher at Mead Elementary in Wisconsin Rapids. When I heard the news of Zach’s passing from a fellow teacher, I was saddened and wanted to express my condolences. I fondly remember the year I spent with Zach. He did indeed "beat to his own drum" and often shared stories of his adventures in Australia shark fishing with his Dad. Although we questioned the validity of these stories, they nonetheless showed the creativity and imagination that Zach had. He was a one-of-a-kind kid who always brought a smile to my face. I know you will miss him dearly.
