Alice M. Lord

Alice M. Lord (nee Maynard), age 96, of 333 E. 7th Street Westfield, WI passed away at KindredHearts Senior Living in Green Lake, WI on November 6, 2011.

Alice was born February 19, 1915 in Grand Marsh, WI to Levi and Kathryn (Donovan) Maynard. On April 4, 1937 she married Vilas Lord in Adams, WI where they ran the DX Station. They later lived in Stevens Point, Biron, Coloma, and Lodi. Vilas passed away May 16, 1962. Alice then moved back to Coloma where she became a cook at the Coloma Grade School. In 1975 she moved to Westfield.

Alice was a homemaker and enjoyed baking things and giving baked goods to others for them to enjoy. She also loved to crochet and made many, many mittens over the past few years, giving to those children who needed them. They were given to schools, churches, Salvation Army, and the DAR. Most of the children in the family were recipients of these mittens many times. She also made many lap robes and donated those to the VA hospital in Madison.
Alice was also a member of the Coloma Historical Society of Coloma, WI. She loved getting together with family for visiting and playing cards. In the past few years, many hours were spent at her sister playing cards and usually winning.

She is survived by three children: Donna Fisher of Westfield, Kathy Lord, Middleton, and Ron (Barbara) Lord. Survivors also include her grandson, Rob (Jackie) Lord of Baraboo; granddaughters: Tori Lord of Milwaukee and Lori Zillges of Kimberly; great-grandsons: Demitrius White of Milwaukee, Troy and Dakota Austenson of Kimberly; great-granddaughters: Brittany Lord of Baraboo and Hayley Lord of Edgar; great-great-granddaughter, Jazlyn of Baraboo; sister: Delores Cherveny of Friendship; sisters-in-law: Jean Maynard, of Greeley, CO. and Bernie Maynard of Woodburn, OR. Alice is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many wonderful friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Donald and Kenneth Maynard; two sisters: Lois Wiegand and Irma Maynard; brothers-in- law: Al Cherveny and John Wiegand.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Mound View Memorial Hospital in Friendship, WI for the wonderful care given to her while she was a patient there. Also a thank-you to the staff of KindredHearts Senior Living and Hospice Advantage for the love and caring during her stay. It all means so very much to the family to know she was being so well taken care of and so deeply cared about by all of you. Also to all her friends and neighbors your kindness kept us going.

As per Alices wishes there will be no visitation. A memorial gathering will be held at the Anna Follett Memorial Library in Coloma, Wisconsin on November 12, 2011 from 1-4 p.m. Father Mike Richel will offer a final blessing. Interment will be at the Coloma Cemetery following the memorial.
