Kathryn Dahl, age 89, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012. She was born on February 2, 1922 in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Anna Katherine (Mueller) and Fredrick Buergin. She went to St. Bernards Grade School and then graduated from Madison East High School in 1939 (she skipped one grade and graduated at 17 years old).
Kathryn married Eugene Dahl on November 15, 1941 in Madison. Three children were born of this marriage; Ron, Donna and Kristi.
Kathryn followed Eugene to Texas while he was in the army. She worked as a secretary for a dream of a boss. She developed a real love for the South. During the war she was one of the Rosie the Riveters.
Kathryn was a beautiful, loving and caring lady. Every smile reached her eyes. She took great pride in running her household and taking care of her family. She so enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; especially their toddler years. Every holiday was made special with her decorating and baking (oh those great tasting chocolate chip cookies). She made sure everyone was happy and enjoying themselves. She died as she lived, peacefully, with grace and dignity and a minimum of fuss.
Kathryn will be deeply missed by her family. She leaves behind her son, Ron Dahl (Rosie); two daughters; Donna McDermott and Kristi (Jim) Breszee; six grandchildren; Alycia Dahl, Tonya (Mark) Dahl, Erin Dahl, Katie Loresch, Corey Doskocil, Karmen (Matt) Lindner; two step-grandsons, Troy Doskocil and Dana (Nikki) Doskocil; one step-granddaughter, Stephanie Kobie; sixteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; four sisters and brothers in-law; Agnes (Conrad), Evelyn (Harold), Dorothy (Mel) and Ethel (George and Bill); two sons-in-law, Peter Doskocil and Roger McDermott and one angel grandson, Roger Dahl.
A private family memorial gathering will be held in Madison and burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
