Robert was born December 17, 1938 in the town of New Chester, Adams County, Wisconsin to Clarence and Lorena (Adee) McClyman. He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1958 and then attended U.W. Stevens Point.  Robert was drafted into the United States Army in 1960.  When he was honorably discharged, he went to work for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad as a Machinist until he retired after 35 years.  Upon retirement, he re-opened his father’s automotive repair shop in Brooks.  Robert was an extremely generous man who would help anyone in need.  People often sought his mechanical expertise, and he enjoyed teaching his trade.

Robert married Sandra Hicks on September 29, 1973.  Together, they had four sons, Glen, Brian, Timothy & Eric, and later divorced in 1995.

He was a devoted, loving father who taught his children life’s lessons through active involvement in Boys Scouts of America and coaching sports.  As both Pack Leader and Scout Master, he shared his knowledge and appreciation of nature and helped adolescents build character for success in life.  Robert was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and especially playing baseball.   Spending time with his family meant the world to him. As a grandfather, he enjoyed playing games and watching various activities that his grandchildren participated in.

I am a voice out of the past. I have not seen Bob since we graduated together from A-F in 1958. However, I remember Bob well, as we always played baseball and basketball together. He was a quiet, unassuming person. He always tried to do his best in a very humble way. I offer my condolences to his family, and I hope he passed those great character traits to them.
