Joseph Francis Coon, age 62, of Brooks, Wisconsin died Sunday, July 22, 2012 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 Noon on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Brooks, Wisconsin. Father James P. McNamee, Father James Murphy, and Msgr. John Hebl will officiate. Interment will be at the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Town of New Chester, Adams County, Wisconsin.
Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home and again on Thursday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Joe was born August 18, 1949 in Portage, Wisconsin to Francis and Dorothy (Gaffney) Coon. He graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School in 1968. Joe married Kathleen Roeker on May 10, 1969 in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. The couple lived in Briggsville and farmed for several years before moving to Brooks, WI – where he purchased his family’s farm. Joe farmed with his children and grandchildren until his time of death.
Joe enjoyed farming, hunting, bowling, Packer, Brewer, and Badger games, spending time with his family and friends.
Joe was a loving father, husband, brother, son, and grandfather – he was always willing to help others in their time of need. He was a former 4-H Leader and member of the Club 23 Bowling League. He was also a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Francis Coon; infant brother, Tommy Coon; father-in-law, Norman Roeker; granddaughter, Kristine Cavanaugh; mother-in-law, Vanita Roeker; and nephew, Tommie Huber.

Where does a person even start….. Kathy our heart goes out to you each minute of every day during these past few months. It has been a hard road, but ,you were there for Joe through everything. Also know that during your times of trial and suffering , when you see only one set of foot prints in the sand it was then that he carried you.
We had so many good times together when the kids were in 4-H and celebrating Joe’s and Christopher’s birthdays together by going out for dinner and having cake after getting back. He will be deeply missed.
