James Walter Combs, age 79, of Rome, Wisconsin died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at his home.
Memorial services are planned for Springtime in 2013.
James was born June 20, 1933 in Hazard, Kentucky to Gay P. and Suzetta Marie Combs. He married Virginia L. May on December 01, 1951 in Lake County, Illinois. James worked at VR Wesson in Waukegan, IL where he worked as a machinist. He later worked for Johnson Motors before moving to Florida, where he operated a Sunoco Service Station. James moved to Pompano Beach and managed a condo with his wife. They retired to Adams County home in 1990. James worked Cat’s Down the Road, the Bay Rest Resort, and Wal-Mart in the Hardware department.
James enjoyed fishing, gardening, telling jokes, and visiting with people.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Gay P. and Suzetta Marie Combs; brothers, Dale, Junior, Robert; and sisters: Wanda and Jerry.

Son: James R. (Pat) Combs of Nekoosa, Wisconsin
Son: Donald L. (Becky) Combs of Pompano Beach, Florida
8 Grandchildren, 9 Great-Grandchildren, further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
RIP Grandpa, you will be missed, but you will always be with us and watching over us. Love You
I am so sorry to hear about James’s passing. All though we never met we shared the same Combs branch of the family tree. His grandfather, Spencer Combs, was a brother to my great grandfather, Jerry Combs. I would love to hear from some of James’s family.
