Florence Marie Jensen

Florence Marie Jensen, age 90, of Adams, Wisconsin passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 13, 2012 at the Moundview Memorial Hospital & Clinics in Friendship, Wisconsin.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church in Arkdale, Wisconsin. Pastor Terri Skildum will officiate. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will be at the East Arkdale Cemetery.

Florence was born March 26, 1922 in Preston Township, Adams County, Wisconsin to Victor C. and Rose H. (Thrasher) Baumel. She graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1939. Florence married Donald H. Jensen on July 20, 1941 in Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church. She retired from the Adams County Memorial Hospital in 1984 after 20 years of service.

Florence will be remembered for the many crocheted afghans and doilies she made throughout the years, which she donated to numerous fund raisers. She loved baking, making lefse and pizzelles, she will be remembered for her great sense of humor, and was lovingly known as “the Field Marshall”. She was a caring and loving mother – who will greatly be missed by her family and friends. Florence celebrated her 90th birthday in March 2012 with a big surprise party at Liberty Manor.

Florence was a member of the Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary #6279, American Legion Red Cloud Post #250 Auxiliary, and ACMH Auxiliary.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald Jensen Sr.; son-in-law, Dennis Kaye; son-in-law, Scott McLaughlin; sisters: Rose “Toots” Davis, Lorraine Baumel, Louise Allen, and Betty Reichoff; sister-in-law, Evangeline Jungenberg; and brother-in-law, Rudy Jensen.

    Florence will be greatly missed. I took care of her when she was at Moundview Memorial Hospital in the extended care center. When I was pregnant with my son she gave me a blanket that she made. I will cherish it always. She is an angel in heaven and will watch over everyone.
