Joe Davis

Vern Ray “Joe” Davis, age 84, of Friendship, Wisconsin died Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be 12 Noon on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin.   Interment will be at the Mt. Repose Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin.  Military honors will be presented by the Adams County Honor Guard.

Friends may call at Roseberry’s Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Joe was born July 26, 1928 in Friendship, Wisconsin to Earl Clinton and Theresa (Gustafson) Davis.  He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1946 and then worked at the Adams Theater.  Joe served in the Army from 1952 to 1954 as a combat medic during the Korean War.  Upon his return to Wisconsin, Joe worked for Chicago NorthWestern Railroad until his retirement in 1990.

Joe enjoyed collecting coins and hats, watching sporting events his grandchildren participated in, taking drives, and was very active in the Village of Friendship.

Joe was a member of Friendship Fire Department (from 1965 – present); VFW Post #6279; and the Quincy Masonic Lodge.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents:  Earl and Theresa Davis; brothers: Archie, Jack, and Bill; sisters: Dody, Ruthie, Lucille “Honey”, and Renee; and great-grandchild, Jonathan I. Williams Jr.

    I will always remember Joe from SkyLine. A lot of fun and laughter with Alex & Evelyn Ginter, Joe and the “Skyline group”- those were the days! Thank goodness for fond memories . I will miss Joe’s laughter and his kindness but I know he is with our dear Lord and at peace. You all have my prayers and deepest sympathy and may time ease your pain. Sorry I missed the funeral, down in Texas with my new grandson.

We sure have some fond memories of Joe…mostly with the Friendship Fire Dept. The one I remember most is sitting with him in the fire truck @ the demo @ the fair. Nick knows the story, I’ve told it to him probably more times than he cares to remember. Again Joe will be deeply missed & in time you’ll be able to smile with tears of joy, not sorrow.

    I’d like to extend my Deepest Sympathy to all of Joe’s family. I worked with Joe for several years on a CNW Railroad travelling signal gang, so I got to know him very well. Even though my work on the railroad made it necessary for me to move away, I still ran into Joe now and then when I came back to the Adams area, and always enjoyed visiting with him and catching up on the local news.
