Mark Raymond Mathewson, age 59, of Portage, Wisconsin died Sunday, December 8, 2013 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.
Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the New Chester Cemetery in Brook, Wisconsin. Rev. Michael Amberg will officiate.
Mark was born March 8, 1954 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin to Lloyd Raymond and Virginia (Kubza) Mathewson. He was married to Kim Eastman, this marriage was blessed with one daughter, Stephanie. Mark worked as a handyman in Columbia and Adams County before working at Potato World in Grand Marsh. He later moved to Portage, WI where he lived with his long-time companion, Jeri Whaley.
Mark enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing horseshoes, training dogs, playing guitar, and most of all, a brother’s jamboree. He also was a jack of all trades, get-togethers with family, holidays and barbecues.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Virginia Mathewson; brother, Michael Mathewson Sr.; brother-in-law, Robert Garrett; nephew, John Garrett; uncle, Ivan Bryan; and nephew, Clayton White.

I will miss you dearly brother, But I know you are with Jesus and other family members who was with Jesus before you arrived. Jerri my heart and prayers are with you at this time. You were a big part of marks life. And he loved you dearly. Thankyou for all you did for my brother.

Mark, for just the last 8 years that I have known you, you gave good advice, said the best jokes, had me laughing like I never laughed before, and the best cookouts there ever was. You and dad both had the most amazing musical ability that I have ever known. Thank you for sharing your life with me and letting me know you. I will miss you just not as a Uncle in-law, but also as a good friend. May you and Dad have the best eternal life together in those pearly gates above. May you Rest in Peace my dear friend.
