Howard Edwards

Howard L. Edwards, age 74, of Oxford, Wisconsin passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m.  on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin.  Rev. Richard Eberly will officiate. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.  Interment will be at the Davis Corners Cemetery at a later date.

Howard was born July 5, 1942 in Adams-Friendship, Wisconsin to Lloyd and Dolores (Rieck) Edwards.

He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1960 where he enjoyed playing baseball and football.

Following their graduation, Howard married his high-school sweetheart Carol Heitman.  This marriage was blessed with two children Brent and Kris. Carol preceded him in death in 1996.

Howard married Nancy (Zufall) Gore on September 27, 1997 in Sparta, Wisconsin.

Howard worked in Wisconsin Dells for Big Joe Manufacturing starting as a welder and worked his way up to Plant Manager.  He later worked for Monroe Truck Equipment in Monroe as Shift Supervisor and retired from D&S Manufacturing in Black River Falls in 2001.  Howard also owned and operated Challenger Custom Bows with his wife Nancy for 10 years.

Howard enjoyed traditional bow-hunting, building bows, arrows, and equipment.  He also enjoyed teaching others about traditional archery skills, and going to archery shoots and events. Howard helped found the Wisconsin Traditional Archer’s and was an active member.  Howard had a love for animals, bluegrass music, and watching sports, especially baseball and football.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd & Dolores Edwards and his first wife, Carol J. (Heitman) Edwards.

Son:  Brent (Dana Boyd) Edwards of Baraboo, Wisconsin

Daughter:  Kris (Brad) Statz of Rock Springs, Wisconsin

Granddaughter:  Jazmyne Edwards of Merrimac, Wisconsin

Granddaughter:  Jaala Edwards of Baraboo, Wisconsin

Grandson:  Jarrad Edwards of Merrimac, Wisconsin

Grandson:  Alex Statz of Rock Springs, Wisconsin

Grandson:  Max Statz of Rock Springs, Wisconsin

Grandson:  Luke Statz of Rock Springs, Wisconsin

Step-Daughter:  Kelly (Al) Winecke of Rock Springs, Wisconsin

Step-Son:  Richard (Tami) Stone of Deforest, Wisconsin

Step-Daughter:  Connie (Erik) Dreher of Montello, Wisconsin

Step-grandson:  Bryant (Leslie) Stone of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin

Step-grandson:  Jamie Dreher of Montello, Wisconsin

Step-grandson:  Dakota Dreher of Montello, Wisconsin

Brother:  Richard (Nola) Edwards of Wausaukee, Wisconsin

Brother:  Michael (Jill) Edwards of Adams, Wisconsin

Further survived by Bailee Hill, Hailee Smith, Felicia Dreher, nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends including his many archery friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
