Maureen Lillian Hickethier, age 90, of Adams, Wisconsin died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the Moundview Memorial Hospital & Clinics in Friendship, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adams, Wisconsin. The Rev. John Krebs will officiate. Interment will be at the Mt. Repose Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin.

Visitation will be on Monday at Roseberry's Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m.

Our beloved mother died as she lived...in sweetness, toughness, and concern about her large family. In all her long life, she spent only a few days in the hospital: several days for childbirth; twice for broken hips; and then seventeen days in excellent care at Moundview Memorial Hospital before she slipped peacefully away on December 28th.

She grew up on a rural Baraboo family farm, worked as a waitress in her youth before she met and married her husband, Earl Hickethier, in 1938. Earl and Maureen settled in Wisconsin Dells, ran a public school bus business as they raised their family of six, then bought and retired from an auto parts store in Adams, Wisconsin, which is currently under the management of their son, Peter Hickethier.

Maureen was an active member at Immanuel Lutheran Church serving on the Evening Guild and the Ladies Aid Society. She enjoyed attending bible studies and was very active in church activities in Adams, Wisconsin Dells, and Arizona.

Maureen loved traveling, mystery books, cards, gardening, crossword puzzles and her songbirds. She and Earl traveled extensively during their retirement and enjoyed vacationing with their children and grandchildren.

Maureen lived a long, full life and held a deep faith in God. Some people are married for life, others for eternity. Mom never once removed her wedding ring and is now reunited with Dad, and other loved ones who have passed before her.

Maureen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Hickethier; Brothers, Chester, John, and James Luce; Sister, Mary Brockley; Sister-in-law, Dorothy Luce; Brother-in-laws, Ed Cahill, John Greene, and Paul Brockley.
