Casey Grabarski was born May 18, 1921, in Easton Township
on the home farm, to Casper and Alma Grabarski. He attended
East Easton School through the 8th grade having
perfect attendance. In 1939, he graduated from the Adams
Friendship High School. He returned to the home farm in
Easton after high school to farm with his parents. On
September 26, 1943, he married Doris Annabelle Hollman and
together they had two sons, James Casper and David Casey.
In 1955, Casey and Doris bought the home farm from
Casey’s parents where they would farm until retirement
passing it on to their sons. One of their proudest moments
was in 1972 when both of Casey’s sons came back to farm with
him and Doris. To allow their sons the opportunity to grow
the farm Casey, Doris, James, and David formed CJD Grabarski
Farms, Inc. In 1990 he received the Award of Distinction
from the University of Wisconsin-Madison for his years of
service to agriculture and rural life.
Throughout his life Casey was also able to contribute his
knowledge and time to the service of the community by
serving in both Adams County and Easton Township leadership
positions. He served on the Adams County Board from 1972 to
1988, serving as its Chairman for eight of those years and
also serving on many committees. He also served on the
Easton Town Board from 1968 through 1989, serving as its
chairman for several of those years. In the 1950’s, he also
served as an Assessor. He also served on the board of
directors for Arkdale Mutual Fire Insurance.
For many years Casey enjoyed polka dancing with his wife,
Doris, and friends throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota and
traveling in their RV trailer. Later in retirement, he also
enjoyed playing Bingo. He spent many hours of retirement
fishing on the ponds on the farm with his brother, sons and
grandchildren. Turkey hunting and deer hunting were also
among his interests.
Casey is preceded in death by his wife, Doris, his
parents, and his brother, Arnold. He is survived by his
sister, Geraldine Smith (Durwin), two sons, James Casper
(Jodi Marie) and David Casey (Jane), his grandchildren,
Jodie Leigh (Kevin), Brian David (Jen), Steven Casey, and
Scott Fredrick, and a great-grandson, Brycen Brian.
The family asks that any memorials be directed to the
Doris and Casey Grabarski Educational Scholarship Trust.
