Erna J. Woodzick, age 85, of Adams, WI died Friday, January 9th, 2004 at the Adams County Memorial Hospital in Friendship.

Funeral service will be 12 Noon on Tuesday, January 13th, 2004 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Adams. Father James P. McNamee will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery.

Erna was born March 18, 1918 to Clarence and Lucille (Collar) King in Elcho, Wisconsin. Erna graduated from Summit Lake School in 1931, and from Elcho High School in 1935. She completed a rural course from Oshkosh State Teachers College in 1938. Erna worked as a paymaster for Fansteel Corporation of North Chicago, IL from June 1942 to August of 1947. Erna received a B.A. from U-W Stevens Point in August of 1971. Erna married Henry T. Woodzick on November 10, 1945 in Elcho, Wisconsin. They moved to Adams, Wisconsin in August of 1947.

Erna was a dedicated school teacher. She taught in a number of communities in Wisconsin including: Marsh School in East Ackley, WI 1938-1940; Deerbrook Grade School in Deerbrook, WI 1940-1942; worked as a teacher’s aid for Friendship and Adams Grade School before becoming the third grade school teacher in Adams from 1967 to 1981.

Erna was active in the Adams Grade School P.T.A., the St. Joseph’s Parish Council of Catholic Women, and the Adams County Retired Teacher’s Assoc. She also belonged to the Adams County Memorial Hospital Women’s Auxiliary.

Erna was preceded in death by her parents; husband (Henry T. – 1980); grandson (Todd H. -1988).

In lieu of flowers memorials given in memory of Erna – they will be distributed to several local organizations.

Visitation will be at Roseberry’s from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 12th, 2003. A prayer service will be recited at 7 p.m. On Tuesday friends may call at the Church from 11 a.m. until the time of service.
