WILLIAM BENNWITZ, age 74, of Grand Marsh, Wisconsin died
Thursday, June 24, 2004 at the Divine Savior Hospital in
Portage, WI .
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 29,
2004 at the Davis Corners United Methodist Church. The
Pastor Steve Miller will officiate. Interment will follow
later that day at 4:30 p.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery,
Janesville, Wisconsin. Visitation will be at Roseberry’s
Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday from 3 to 6 p.m. and at
the church on Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
William was born October 3, 1929 to Ernest A. Bennwitz
and Elsie W. Maves in Janesville, WI. At age fourteen, he
began working at Bennison Lane Bakery in Janesville. He
later worked as a semi driver and warehouseman for
Janesville Cotton Mills, which later was know as, Janesville
Products. William married Anneliese E. Steffen on June 25,
1955 at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Janesville, WI.
William was a past member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church
of Janesville, Cargill United Methodist Church, and since
1991 Davis Corner’s United Methodist.
William was an avid collector of Lionel trains, which he
began at age 14. He enjoyed bowling in a league, being a
handyman around the house, camping, traveling by Amtrak
across the U.S.A., fishing, and his first motorcycle, a 1948
Indian Motorcycle.
William was preceded in death by his parents.
