She was born Anna M. Krakora in Chicago in February 2,
1911, the daughter of Frank J. and Mary A. (Jindra) Krakora.
She was raised in Grand Marsh with her brothers Joe and
Frank, and spent most of her life in Adams. Anna spoke
fondly of the various jobs she held in her lifetime. She
said, "I was never afraid of hard work." She was an
inspiration to us all because of her cheerfulness, energy
and adaptability.
After her school years, Anna moved to Chicago to be a
domestic employee. During the Great Depression, she returned
to Adams to work for the Works Progress Administration
sewing clothing with other ladies in Friendship. Anna later
returned to Chicago to work at a Bohemian orphanage. She
then worked in Adams as a telephone operator. During World
War Two, Anna worked at the Merrimac Ordnance Plant in
Portage. There, she and other local ladies, the original
Rosie the Riveters, assembled military equipment for the war
effort.
Anna married Alvin O. Grunwald, of Adams, a North Western
Rail Road employee, on May 1, 1938. Shortly afterwards, she
was confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Adams, where
she was a member for the next 65 years.
Anna, Alvin and their children Ruth Ann and Gilbert
Bullock moved to Escanaba, MI in 1944. There, Alvin worked
for the North Western Railroad, Anna worked for Montgomery
Ward as a clerk, and their children attended school.
The couple later moved to Fond du Lac, where Anna worked
for Infant Socks. They then returned to Adams where she
became a nurse’s aid at the Adams-Friendship Hospital.
Anna was an active member of the Bohemian Lodge, and a
member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she donated
lighting in honor of her husband. She had a true sense of
fun and adventure, and loved to travel by train and bus
around the U.S. to sightsee, and visit her friends, children
and grandchildren. Anna also enjoyed refinishing furniture,
needlework and playing cards.
She became a resident of Liberty Manor Assisted Living in
2000, where she enjoyed comfort and friendships. She moved
to Villa Pines Living Center in 2004.
Anna was the devoted mother of her children Gilbert
(Jean) Bullock of Wenatchee, WA and Ruth Ann (Paul) Dufresne
of Upper Marlboro, MD. She was the cherished grandmother of
Mark (Debbie) Bullock, Spokane, WA, Mary Jo (Bruce)
Bendickson, Scott (Diane) Bullock, Jeff (Jan) Bullock of
Wenatchee, Kevin (Sue) Bullock of Three Forks, MT, Laura
Redmond of Crofton, MD and Carol (Bill) Trent of Hoboken,

and Julienne Trent of Hoboken. Ann also leaves behind a host
of other relatives and friends.
