Quinn, age 85, of Adams, WI (formerly of Chicago) died

2004 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Adams. Father

Helen was born on August 3, 1918 to Joseph and Mary (Brookal)
Szymanski in Calgary, Canada. She was the youngest of three
daughters. When she was five, her family moved to Chicago,
IL where her father found work as a carpenter. Helen married
Everett Quinn in 1942. This marriage was blessed with 2
children, Judy and Bryan.
Helen worked as a top notch legal stenographer for years
before becoming a wholesale director for a catalog house
where she traveled the USA doing trade shows. She owned a
gift shop in Evanston, IL and in Wisconsin Dells, WI during
the 1970’s called the "Christmas Cardinal". Helen then began
a collector thimble wholesale business and sold them to
catalog houses and theme parks all over the country.
Helen
retired to Adams County in 1994, but her entrepreneurial
spirit prevailed and she opened a booth at the Adams Flea
Market for several years where she sold floral arrangements
and other hand made gifts she created.
She
was a regular at St. Joseph’s Church every Saturday night,
even in winter, sometimes getting rides by her many friends.
She was also a voice in the "sound-off" columns when she
felt an injustice was happening. Helen never drove a car so
she was often seen walking to the Post Office and throughout
town.
Helen was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and
the VFW Post #6279 Ladies Auxiliary.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband (Everett –
1976), and her oldest sister (Frances Kusner).
