ARLENE
ELMA BABCOCK, age 94, of Springville, Adams County,
Wisconsin died Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at the Villa
Pines Living Center in Friendship, WI.Funeral services
will be 11:00 a.m., November 12th, at Roseberry’s Funeral
Home & Crematory in Friendship. Interment will be in the
Easton Cemetery, Town of Easton. Visitation will be at
Roseberry’s on Thursday, November 11th from 4 to
8 p.m.
Arlene was born July 27, 1910 to Dana and Elma (Edmonds)
Elderkin in Plainville, Wisconsin, the second of four
children. She graduated from the Wisconsin Dells High School
in 1926 at the age of 16. She then graduated from the Wood
County Normal School. She taught at the Spring Branch School
in Rome, and the Plainville and Brooks Schools.
She was united in marriage to Francis Babcock on June 15,
1932. They had seven children. She worked at the dress
factory in Mauston for 17 years, and as a bookkeeper for
Theisen’s Lumber for 15 years. She loved sewing and made
many clothes and later beautiful quilts.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; a brother
(Clark); an infant sister; husband (Francis – 1972); and
sons (Stephen and Nicholas).
