ROBERT S. McGREGOR, age 93, of Adams, Wisconsin died Friday, November 19, 2004 at the Moundview Memorial Hospital & Clinics Extended Care in Friendship, Wisconsin. He passed away as he lived life. Peacefully with dignity, grace, and courage.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 22nd, 2004 at the Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. The Rev. Richard Corning will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt Repose Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin. Visitation will be at Roseberry’s on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Military rites will be offered by the Adams VFW Post #6279; the Adams American Legion Red Cloud Post #250; and the Grand Marsh American Legion Snyder-Richardson Post #273.

Robert was born September 27, 1911 in the Adams County Town of Colburn to John and Pearl (Scott) McGregor. He graduated from the Friendship Grade School before moving to Madison, WI and graduating from the Madison Central High School. Robert married Madge Faye Elkington on July 29, 1934 in Waukegan, Illinois. He was an engineer in the Army during WWII, serving in the South Pacific Theater. Robert also served in the Korean War. Robert worked as an operating engineer for road construction company for 45 years.

  • Lodge Council Chapter Consistory of Valley of Eau Claire

  • VFW Post 6279 of Adams

  • Operating Engineers Union Local 139 - member since 1943 (50 year pin in 1993)

  • Mound View Country Club - founding member and past 2 Term board member

  • Trinity Congregational Church – Adams, WI

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers (Donald, Duncan, and Roderick).

SURVIVORS:

Wife: Madge McGregor, Adams

Brother-in-law: Thomas (Dee) Elkington – Lake Suzy, FL

Brother-in-law: Ralph (Vera) Elkington – Superior, WI

Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
