Norval Stormoen, age 93, of
Friendship died Saturday, October 23, 2004 at Villa Pines
Living Center.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m.
on Thursday, October 28th, 2004 at Roseberry’s
Funeral Home in Friendship. Rev. Richard Corning will
officiate. Interment will follow at the Mt. Repose Cemetery.
Military rites will be offered by the Adams VFW Post #6279;
the Adams American Legion Red Cloud Post #250; and the Grand
Marsh American Legion Snyder-Richardson Post #273.
Visitation will be at Roseberry’s on Thursday from 12
Noon until the time of service.
Norval was born on January 18, 1911 in Minneapolis, MN
the son of John and Rachel (Johnson) Stormoen. His family
moved to Adams County in 1912. He married Rosalie Holden on
August 18, 1956 in Waukegan, IL.
Norval served in the Army during World War II from March
8, 1941 to November 30, 1945. He served in the South
Pacifice (New Guinea). He received the Good Conduct Medal,
Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, American Defense Service
Medal and 7 Over Seas Service Bars.
Norval worked for Ashworth Brothers, Adams County Highway
Department and the Village of Friendship. He retired in
1975. He also was the care taker and grave digger for Mount
Repose Cemetery for many years. Norval enjoyed gardening,
hunting, and fishing trout with nephew "Butch" Ashworth.
Norval was a member of the Quincy Masonic Lodge #71 - Eau
Claire Consistory ZOR Shrine - Heart of WI Shrine Club -
Adams Trinity Congregational Church - Adams VFW Post 6279
and American Legion Red Cloud Post 250.
Norval was preceded in death by his parents; brother
(Joe); sisters (Rachel and Alice); and two infant siblings.
