John E. Switzky
(To Family and Friends he was John, Dad,
Jr. or Al)
He was born May 6, 1924 and died on Saturday, April 9,
2005 after a long illness. He and his wife, Dorothy
(Busch), were married 58 wonderful years. He was a loved,
respected and devoted son, husband, father, brother,
uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all
who knew him. He and Dorothy were currently residing in
Waunakee, WI. In his journey through life, John served in
the 83rd Infantry Regiment serving his country
during WW-II. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart
with Oak Leaf Cluster, 4 Battle Stars and other metals. He
was our hero. He and Dorothy (Busch) were married on
August 24, 1946. He served 30 years in the US Postal
Service, retiring in 1983. They spent many winters in
Phoenix, AZ but always kept close to their family. They
moved back to Wisconsin in 1989 to settle in Friendship.
John was a Past Worshipful Master of Quincy Masonic Lodge
71. He was a member of Trinity Congregational Church of
Adams, WI, a member of NARF, and a member of VFW Post 1318
in Madison. John was preceded in death by his mother,
Stella (Mitchell), his father Saul Switzky and his brother
Dean Swistzky. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his
daughter, Marcia Corcoran, his son John (Barb) Switzky, 5
grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and his sister Joyce
Welcome. He will be truly missed. Memorial services will
be held on Friday, April 15, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at
Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Richard Corning
presiding. A special thanks goes to Kris, Kelly and all of
the wonderful people at Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the
family requests that memorials be made to Hospice Care,
Inc. Roseberry’s Funeral Home and Crematory of Friendship
is assisting the family with arrangements. Online
