Lulu
Irene Petersen, age 91, of Oxford, Wisconsin died Tuesday,
December 6, 2005 following an automobile accident near
Portage, WI.Funeral services will
be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2005 at the St. John's
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oxford, Wisconsin. The
Rev. Brian Rohde will officiate. Interment will be at the
Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, Wisconsin.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday
at Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin.
Lulu was born March 23, 1914 in Town of
Jackson in Adams County, Wisconsin to George and Cora Lloyd.
She grew up near Davis Corners and attended school there.
Lulu became a teacher and taught school in one-room school
in Strongs Prairie and Leola Townships until she married
Otto N. Petersen on August 1, 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa.
They made their home in Milwaukee, WI
until she retired in 1976. They returned to the Township of
Jackson that same year.
Lulu enjoyed gardening and adapted very
well to the new age of computers with the devoted help from
her niece Barbara.
Lulu was a member of St. John’s
Evangelical Lutheran Church of Oxford.
Lulu was preceded in death by her parents;
2 brothers (Lester and Edward); one sister (Frances R.); and
several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be
directed to the St. John’s Lutheran
Church or an organization devoted to
Alzheimer’s research.
