                                       John Joseph “Jack” Hofbauer age 70 of Hudson and formerly of Adams and Waunakee, Wisconsin died Tuesday February 22, 2005 at United Hospital St. Paul. Jack was born on March 3, 1934 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin; the son of Joseph Andrew and Agnes Joann (Lewylln) Hofbauer. He attended elementary school in Oshkosh prior to graduating from Westfield High School. He furthered his schooling by attending the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. He was a proud member of our armed forces where he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1955. On October 27, 1956, he was united in marriage to his best friend, Donna Mae Reichhoff at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Adams, Wisconsin. Jack began a long and rewarding career with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He truly worked through the ranks. He began as a cook in the camp car and would be promoted to signalman and then manager and supervisor. He began in Adams and was later transferred to Waunakee and then Hudson where they have lived since the early 70’s. Jack was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing with family. Earlier in life, he was a member of the Hudson Booster Club and coached his kid’s baseball teams. He also enjoyed a sunny day on the golf course and gardening. More recently, he cherished time spent with Donna and his family traveling about the country.

Jack will remain in the hearts of his wife Donna, children Michael (Karla) Hofbauer of Waunakee, WI, Mark (Beth) Hofbauer of Cottage Grove, WI, Carol (Robert) Anderson of Dane, WI, Daniel (special friend Cherri) Hofbauer of Hudson, Eugene Hofbauer of Hudson, grandchildren Derek Anderson, Joshua Anderson, Sean Anderson, Alex Anderson, Darren Anderson, Jessica Hofbauer, Jennifer Hofbauer, Joseph Hofbauer, Michelle Hofbauer, sister Barbara (Tom) Malin of Lodi, WI, brother Robert Hofbauer of Portland, Oregon, and aunt Lillian Drier of Appleton, WI. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Audrey Reichhoff, and parents-in-law Harry (Leona) Reichhoff.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30AM Monday February 28 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Adams. Burial will be in the Easton Cemetery in rural Adams. Local visitation in Hudson will be Friday February 25th from 5 until 7PM with a rosary service at 6:45PM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Hudson. Visitation will also be on Sunday February 27th from 5 until 7PM at Roseberry Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Memorials preferred to the St. Patrick’s Building Fund.
