Raymond
A. Tolley, age 78, of Friendship, WI died Tuesday, June 28th,
2005 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI.Funeral service
will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2nd, 2005 at
the Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Kathryn
Schifferdecker and Intern Rob Nelson will officiate.
Interment will be at a later date at the East Arkdale
Cemetery. Military rites will be offered by the Adams VFW
Post #6279; the Adams American Legion Red Cloud Post #250;
and the Grand Marsh American Legion Snyder-Richardson Post
#273.
Visitation will be at Roseberry’s on Friday from 5 to 8
p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until the
time of service.
Raymond was born June 20, 1927 to Christian and Bertha
(Martin) Tolley in the Adams County Township of Strongs
Prairie. He attended Thompson Grade School and
Adams-Friendship High School before leaving school to join
the Merchant Marines in 1945. Raymond married Willetta
Strand of Friendship on November 6th, 1948. Their
union was blessed with three children. Raymond took a course
in Devry in radio, TV, and Electronics. He worked for Nash
Motors of Kenosha for 5 years, Preway in Wisconsin Rapids
for 10 years, and did electrical work on his own until his
retirement in 1989.
Raymond enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and spending
time with his family.
Raymond was a member of the Arkdale Trinity Lutheran
Church, a board member of Adams-Columbia Electrical Coop
(since 1965), the Dairyland Power of La Crosse (since 1983),
WEC, and Chairman of the Badger Power Co-op (since 1980).
Raymond was preceded in death by his father (Christian –
1970); mother (Bertha – 1966); sisters (Myrtle– 1995;
Chrystle-2002; and Millie - 2000) Brothers (Clark – 1983 and
Floyd 2002) Grandsons (Erik – 1998 and Derek – 1996) and
Grandson-in-law (Billy Turnmire -1997) and Daughter-in-law
(Sandra Tolley-1987).
