Joseph Henry Jefferson, age
90, of Monroe Center, Wisconsin died November 18, 2005 in
the home of his sister Jean in St. Ignatius, MT.
Funeral services will be at
11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26th at the
Church of Jesus Christ of LDS located at 406 E. Lake Street
in Friendship, Wisconsin. Bishop Mark Jefferson will
officiate. Interment will be in the Monroe Center Cemetery.
Joe was born on December 8,
1914 the son of Eugene and Vera M. (Bixby) Jefferson in the
town of Monroe. He schooled in a One Room School in Monroe
Center for grades 1-8. He attended High School in Necedah
while boarding in town and graduated in 1934. While boarding
in Necedah he was active in all sports and later in Monroe
Center Community Teams. He farmed in Monroe Center for over
60 years and was part owner of a "Century Old Farm". Joe
farmed, logged wood, and helped prepare area for the
Petenwell Lake and Dam. He was also a rural mail carrier for
over 20 years as substitute and full time.
He was a Town Chairman and
Assessor for the Town of Monroe a number of years. He was
also active in the building of the New Town Hall. He was an
active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS.
He was preceded in death by
his parents, Eugene and Vera Jefferson; brother, Forrest
Jefferson; sisters, Wilma Jones and Crystal Freeck; nephews,
John Freeck and Glen Hail.

Friends may call at
Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship on Friday, November
25th from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. On Saturday,
friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at
Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be
given to the Adams County Food Pantry.
