Lois Marie Barnes, age 78 of
Grand Marsh, Wisconsin died Thursday, October 13, 2005 in
the home she was born in following a long battle with
cancer.Funeral services will be 10:00 am on Monday,
October 17th at the South Burr Oak Methodist
Church in Coloma, WI. Rev. Candice Lisiecki and Rev. Richard
Chesky will officiate. Interment will be in the Pine Grove
Cemetery, Town of Lincoln. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on
Sunday, October 16th at Roseberry's Funeral Home,
Friendship.
Lois was born January 11, 1927 on the home farm in the
Town of Lincoln, the daughter of John Henry and Dagmar (Thorsen)
Chesky. After graduating from A-F High School in 1944, Lois
attended Business College in Milwaukee. She married Jesse
Barnes on September 26, 1953 in Westfield, WI and together
they raised their family. Lois served in the community as
4-H Leader for 14 years; Adams County Farmers Union Coop
Secretary/Treasurer for 14 years; 30 years as treasurer for
the Town of Lincoln and served as secretary for the Grand
Marsh Development during it’s early years. She was a member
of South Burr Oak Church her entire life.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Jesse; daughter,
Julie Barnes Puntney; grandson, Brad Barnes; sister, Dorothy
Scharf; and two brothers, Robert and Marley Chesky.
