John
Henry Moyer Sr., age 74 of Friendship, Wisconsin, formerly
of Rockford, Illinois, died April 2, 2006 following a long
illness with Parkinson’s Disease and Diabetes at the
Moundview Memorial Hospital Extended Care. Funeral
services will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 6th
at the United in Christ Lutheran Church, 1857 Cty Hwy Z in
Dellwood, Wisconsin. The Rev. T. Christian Nelson will
officiate. Military rites will be offered by the Adams VFW
Post #6279; the Adams American Legion Red Cloud Post #250;
and the Grand Marsh American Legion Snyder-Richardson Post
#273 .
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m.
on Wednesday April 5th at Roseberry's Funeral
Home, 512 Main Street, Friendship, WI.
John was born June 3, 1931 in Pecatonica, Illinois the
son of Howard B. and Edna J. (Peterson) Moyer. Following his
schooling he joined the U.S. Army serving in Germany from
1948 to 1955. He married Geraldine Marie Johnson on May 31,
1952 in Rockford, Illinois. He was employed by Sundstrand
Corp in Rockford for 17 years and then employed by Eclipse
Corp. until his retirement in 1992 at which time he moved to
Friendship.
John was honored by being inducted as the first member of
the KenRock Community Center’s Hall of Fame for his
involvement in various youth programs. He was a Cub Scout
Master for 5 years; served on the school board for district
211 in Rockford for many years; past president of the Young
Democrats of Rockford, IL; served on the welcoming committee
during the campaign for Presidential candidate John F.
Kennedy.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and
Edna; brothers; Roy and Glen "Marv" Moyer.
