Eva was born in Dellwood, Wisconsin, the youngest of seven children, to Emil and Augusta (Thorpe) Gullickson. She endured the hardships of the loss of her mother who died of the 1919 flu, then of WWI, and the depression, Eva developed a strong work ethic that helped her raise and support her two daughters, Patricia and June McFarlin, from her first marriage.

During WWII, she became a part of the new working women generation, employed at the Badger Ordnance Plant in Baraboo, Wisconsin. On July 3, 1946 she began a 60 year marriage to Jay Marshall Paddock and took on various traditional jobs.

As her extended family grew and moved away, Jay and Eva vacationed yearly in California with visits to Chicago, the Badlands, Yellowstone, Reno, and Las Vegas. Eva enjoyed fond memories of the shows in Las Vegas and Reno.

She suffered from Kidney problems from a young age, and had numerous eye operations, and more recently several strokes. With increasing immobility, she spent her last months in residence at Villa Pines.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents, brother (Edwin Gullickson); sister (Adel Gullickson): one infant sister; and two infant brothers.
