Sanford Moen, 65 year old, of Marshfield, Wisconsin died Saturday, August 5th, 2006 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield, Wisconsin following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services were held this past week at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Interment will be at a later date at the Slidre Norwegian Cemetery in Auburndale, Wisconsin on August 20th at 3:00 p.m. with visitation after at the Lutheran church in Hewitt.

Sanford was born on July 29, 1941 in Spencer, Wisconsin, the son of Thurston and Lila (Larson) Moen. As a young man Sanford moved to Rockford, Illinois where he worked as a driver for the city bus and later for Rockford Screw Products. He remained there until 1969 when he moved to Marshfield, WI taking employment at Weyerhaeuser where he continued to work as a very active employee until 2003. Sanford married Karen Cardo on October 17, 1976. During his working years he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Weyerhaeuser for his commitment and service to the company. Sanford was a union member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America from 1969-2003 of local chapter 1733. He was president of Local Chapter from 1986-1995, Vice President from 1999-2000. He also served as a Labor Council Delegate, Council Trustee, and on the council Fair committee from 1986-2002. Sanford served as a delegate or member on various programs such as the Weyerhaeuser Health Fair Committee, OES safety committee and more. Another admirable accomplishment included sponsoring workers with alcohol and drug problems as well as providing transportation to treatment centers.

In addition to his strong commitment to work, Sanford also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Being an avid outdoor enthusiast, many hours of hunting and fishing were enjoyed by him with his friends.

Sanford is survived by his wife, Karen, daughter; Andrea (Eugene) Pelot; step-son, Jim (Allison) Cardo; and grandchildren Kaja, Tiana, Cheyenne, Anthony, and Dakota. He is further survived by 3 sisters, 2 brothers, many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
