Francis "Pud" Rathermel,
age 80 of Friendship, died January 19, 2006 at the Villa
Pines Living Center in Friendship, Wisconsin.Funeral
services will be 11:00 am on Saturday, January 21st
at Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church in Arkdale, Wisconsin.
The Rev. Kathryn Schifferdecker will officiate. Interment
will be at the East Arkdale Cemetery. The Adams VFW Post
#6279; the Adams American Legion Red Cloud Post #250; and
the Grand Marsh American Legion Snyder-Richardson Post #273
will offer military rites. Visitation will be from 9:00 am
on Saturday at the Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church until
time of services.
Francis was born July 5, 1925 in Leola Township, (Adams
County) Wisconsin the son of Alva and Jane (Sherman) Rathermel. He joined the Navy during World War Two serving
on the USS Rockbridge from 1944 to 1946. He married Irene M.
Bakovka on July 3, 1951 in Adams. He worked as a lineman for
Adams Marquette Co-op from 1954 retiring in July of 1990. He
was the first lineman to complete the apprentice and
journeyman program for Adams Marquette Co-op. Following his
retirement Pud enjoyed hunting, fishing, arrowhead
explorations, going to Canada with his family and working on
his Christmas Tree Farm. He also helped his son on the farm
running errands and pulling wagons.
He was a member of the State and National Christmas Tree
Assoc. and the Adams VFW Post 6279.
Pud was preceded in death by his parents, Alva, Jane and
brother-in-law, Arthur Harder,
Sister-in-law, Ann Bakovka and mother-in-law, Rose
Bakovka.
