Amy J. Sharapata, age 93 of Arkdale, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2006. Amy was born on April 25, 1913 in Adams, the daughter of Alma and Bert Smith. She was a graduate of Adams-Friendship High School. She married Robert Sharapata on September 6, 1933 in Chicago. They resided in Berwyn, Illinois, for several years, later returning to Adams County where they operated Roberts Motors, Shari Sales, and a dairy farm. Bob and Amy enjoyed spending summers in Manitowish Waters and winters in Tucson for many years.

Amy was a founding member of the Strongs Prairie Community Club, serving as President. She actively pursued many hobbies throughout her life, including gardening, reading, crocheting, and working in her shop. Amy was a devoted aunt to her many nieces and nephews; she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 21st at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship. Rev. Kathryn Schifferdecker will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Repose Cemetery, Friendship. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until time of services.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Adams County Humane Association.
