Rosemary
Steponkus, age 82, of White Creek, Wisconsin died Monday,
June 19, 2006 at the University Of Wisconsin Hospital in
Madison, Wisconsin. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on
Thursday, June 22, 2006 at the St. Ann's Catholic Church in
Brooks, Wisconsin. Father Daniel Kelly will officiate.
Interment will be at the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Town
of New Chester, Adams County, Wisconsin.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of service
on Thursday at St. Ann's Catholic Church.
Rosemary was born March 30, 1924 in Ottawa, Illinois to
Frank and Rose (Bednariak) Svoboda. She grew up and attended
school in Ottawa. Rosemary worked at a dentist office and
later at a luminous dial factory before marrying Bruno
Steponkus on September 7, 1946 in Ottawa, Illinois. They
moved to Waukegan, IL for two years before moving to White
Creek in 1948. Rosemary ran the pickle factory White Creek,
and was a waitress at the Friendship Café – the whole time
while maintaining a farm in White Creek. She later worked as
a custodian at the Friendship Post Office and the Adams VFW.
Rosemary enjoyed gardening, reading, ceramics, sewing,
and spending time with her family.
Rosemary was a member of the Ladies VFW Aux., she was an
active volunteer with the VFW Ladies Aux. outreach program
at Villa Pines and the Tomah VA for veterans, and the St.
Ann’s Catholic Church.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, husband,
Bruno; 7 brothers and sisters; one grandson, Greg McLain.
