Dwight
Merlin Gilbert Sr., age 92, of Nekoosa, Wisconsin died
Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin
Rapids, Wisconsin.
Funeral services
will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2006 at Crown of
Life Lutheran Church, 1282 Tally Ho Trail, Hubertus,
Wisconsin. The Rev. Paul Tullberg will officiate. Interment
will be at Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin, Wisconsin.
Visitation will
be 9 a.m. to the time of service on Saturday at Crown of
Life Lutheran Church.
Dwight was born
May 26, 1913 in Price, Wisconsin to Charles and Myrta
(Newland) Gilbert. He married Dorothy L. Willms on September
26, 1936 in Indiana. They made their home in West Allis,
Wisconsin. Dwight worked most of his life in the dairy
industry. His most recent employment was as an engineer at
Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee.
Dorothy preceded
him in death on December 17, 1973. Dwight married Angeline
Bradley in 1975, retired and moved from West Allis to the
Town of Rome in Adams County. He was a member of Good
Shepherd Lutheran Church.
He loved hunting
deer and pheasants, and had been an original and continuing
member of a Rusk County deer hunting group from 1939-1996.
He trained hunting dogs and competed in field trials
throughout the state. After his retirement, he became an
avid golfer.
He was a former
president of the West Allis Training Kennel Club, past
president of Rome Senior Citizens Club and charter member of
Lake Arrowhead Association.
