Rena Lillian Murphy, age 90, of Adams, WI died October 7,
2006 at the Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital in Prairie Du
Sac, WI.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October
11, 2006 at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Friendship,
WI. Father Dennis P. Stanchik will officiate. Interment will
be at the St. Leo�s Catholic Cemetery, Friendship, WI.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Roseberry's
Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Rena was born June 22, 1916 in Big Flats, Wisconsin to
Holger H. and Johannah C. (Hansen) Petersen, the oldest of
four girls. She graduated from Adams-Friendship High School
and the Wood County Normal Teachers College. Rena returned
to Big Flats and taught at the
Niebull
One Room School. She married William Edward Murphy on
December 28, 1939 in St. Joseph's Church in Wautoma, WI.
They owned and operated the Gamble Store in Friendship from
1941 until their retirement in 1974.
Rena moved to Liberty Manor in 2002.
Rena enjoyed quilting, refinishing furniture, reading,
playing cards, spending winters in Florida, and spending
time with her family and circle of friends.
Rena was a member of St. Joseph�s Catholic Church and the
Adams County Retired Teachers.
Rena was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two
daughters Joan Twachtman and Patricia Cardo; one sister
Verna (Stuart) Henningson; and great-grandson Logon Sleeman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the
family.
